Instructions for operation and care of billiard table and equipment
Billiard table is a complex product that requires special care. If the rules of operation and care are observed, the service life of the billiard table is unlimited.
1. Billiard room
The floor in the billiard room should have a solid stable base, excluding any deformation under the weight of the billiard table (up to 1300kg) during installation and subsequent static loading. Instability of the floor will lead to deformation of the billiard playing field.
The air temperature in the billiard room should be 20-24 C, relative humidity 40-60%. Non-observance of temperature and humidity regime creates the risk of warping of wooden parts of the table, cues, weakening of the cloth tension due to absorbed moisture. The table should be installed far away from heating devices. If there are air conditioners, fireplaces, other climatic equipment that reduces air humidity, it is necessary to install a humidifier. Possible consequences of non-compliance with the temperature and humidity regime in the form of slight warping of wooden parts of the billiard table or equipment, appearance of cracks are related to physical phenomena, peculiarities of behaviour of solid wood, and are not related to the quality of work performed.
Billiard table during the game is illuminated by a special lamp. Illumination of the billiard room by natural daylight should exclude direct exposure of sunlight to the billiard table. Prolonged direct exposure to sunlight may cause discoloration of some parts of wooden parts or cloth.
2. billiard table
All billiard table service activities should be performed by qualified specialists of the billiard equipment supplier company. Unqualified actions may entail the risk of misalignment of the plates, breakage of structural elements of the table, damage of its components and, as a consequence, additional costs for their elimination.
Preventive inspection and levelling:
The first inspection of the table and levelling should be carried out by the supplier’s specialists no later than three months after installation. During this time, the joints shrink, the table becomes stable and requires minimal adjustments. Subsequent preventive inspections and levelling (as required) are carried out once a year.
Storage and care:
At the end of the game, the table should be covered with a special cover to prevent dust and foreign objects from getting on the cloth. Daily care consists in dust removal with a soft clean cloth and periodic (once a week on average) treatment with non-liquid polish “anti-dust” applied on a special soft cloth. If liquid gets on the wooden surfaces of the table, immediately blot it with an absorbent cloth or sponge and wipe dry.
It is forbidden:
move the billiard table independently, attempt to level the field and perform any manipulations that require the participation of a specialist, except for the table maintenance actions specified in this instruction;
to put ashtrays, dishes, glasses and cups with drinks, briefcases, put keys, umbrellas, tools and other objects that can stain or damage the cloth, boards, scratch the paint coating of wooden parts on the boards and the playing field;
smoking above the table surface;
stand on the table and walk on it, use it for mounting lamps and other work;
use various chemicals and abrasive compositions for cleaning cloth, wooden, brass, leather surfaces that are not specially designed for this purpose.
Cloth:
During play, chalk particles and dust settle on the field. The quality of play depends on the condition of the cloth. The front surface of the cloth should be as smooth as possible. The cloth retains its playing qualities for a long time if it is properly cleaned on a regular basis. It is forbidden to use any wet cleaning, chemical agents, hard sharp objects to scrape off dirt or lift the pile.
The cloth should be cleaned with a special brush made of horsehair with long bristles at the edges. A quality brush lifts the pile rolled up by balls and removes dust and dirt at the joints of the board and the playing field, and in the joints of the holes. It is necessary to clean strictly in the direction of the pile of the cloth. After cleaning the playing surface sweep the dust collected at the boards towards the pockets and remove it with a hoover.
Periodically (once a week or two – depending on the intensity of the game), the playing field is treated with a hoover of low power with a special soft nozzle without rotating brushes. Vacuuming should be done in the direction of the pile, slowly, without physical effort.
Stains should only be removed from the cloth by a qualified technician using the means intended for this purpose. It is possible to remove the stain with a brush and a 40% water solution of ethyl alcohol. Moisten the brush with this solution and clean the stained area with careful, effortless movements in the direction of the pile, periodically blotting with a clean white dry cloth or napkin. It is possible to repeat the procedure after complete natural drying. It is recommended to start cleaning the cloth as soon as possible after soiling to avoid possible fixation of the stain and further formation of streaks.
White dots on the cloth, which are left by the ball on impact, burning through the cloth during acceleration, are not stains. At this moment, the temperature rises to 250 ºC at the friction point between the cloth and the ball. Such points cannot be cleaned and are the result of normal wear and tear of the cloth.
The cloth should be replaced as it wears out, which depends on the intensity of billiard table use (on average once a year), as well as in case of damage or irremovable stains. Signs of cloth wear: appearance of scuffs on the sides and on the corners of the holes, unevenness of the pile (appearance of rolled tracks in the area of the holes). During the replacement of the cloth a preventive inspection of the table and, if necessary, levelling is carried out.
3. Cue
Storage:
Cues should be stored away from heating and climatic devices only in an upright position in a special rack or suspended with a special clip. It is not allowed to store cues in an inclined position – leaning against a table or wall.
Operation:
Sticker:
The size of the sticker should exactly correspond to the diameter of the front face of the shaft, the edges of the sticker should be even, the working surface of the sticker should have a spherical shape with a diameter of 10-14 mm. Sticker sharpening is performed with the help of a special sharpening device, which gives it the correct shape and raises the skin pile. During the game, the surface of the sticker is systematically brushed from compacted chalk particles to restore roughness. The sticker should be replaced both in case of wear and tear and if it is necessary to change the sphericity or stiffness of the cue tip. It is unacceptable to use a cue with a worn, broken sticker – such a cue may damage the cloth.
Cue care:
For full care of the cue in the billiard room it is necessary to have:
a set of special polishing fine abrasive abrasives for polishing the surface of the cue shaft;
a stock of enough stickers for replacement;
special glue for stickers;
a device for grinding (scraping) the surface of the bush;
a device for fixing the sticker when re-gluing it;
chalk with a set of holders;
non-liquid polish and soft cloths for cleaning and removing dirt;
alcohol solution to remove heavy soiling.
4. Billiard balls
Your billiard is equipped with the best quality balls with many years of impact resistance. Simple rules of care will help to keep their surface smooth.
After the game remove the billiard balls from the table and shelves in a box lined with felt.
Wipe the balls with special ball care products – polishes and other products offered by billiard balls manufacturers. Some small dirt can be removed with a napkin moistened with alcohol. Keep an eye on the condition of the holes – the baffle and leather should reliably cover the metal parts of the bracket, the rolls should have an undamaged cover.
5. Conditions of warranty service fulfilment
Free warranty repair covers only defects caused by the manufacturer’s fault and includes repair works and replacement of defective parts of the billiard table and supplied billiard equipment.
The decision on free warranty service is made after consideration of a written application, indicating the reason for the application, and diagnostics of defects or damages of the billiard table or equipment at the Customer’s facility.
The warranty does not apply:
In case of violation of the rules of storage, operation and maintenance of the billiard table and equipment set forth in this manual;
In case of using the billiard table and equipment not for its intended purpose;
In the presence of traces of unauthorised intervention, independent repair or adjustment of the table;
On parts of the table and equipment with visible damage, traces of mechanical or chemical impact, damage by animals or insects;
On consumables – stickers, chalk, cloth;
In case of damage to the billiard table and equipment or its loss due to force majeure circumstances (elements, fire, flood, accidents, etc.);
